The Dugong Tee features our gorgeous dugong design, inspired by the gentle giants of Moreton Bay. Moreton Bay Marine Park is home to the most southern population of dugongs in Australia, where they may occur in herds of over 100 individuals. Lacking a dorsal fin or conspicuous surface behaviours, these cryptic marine mammals are not always easy to see. Dugongs face many threats, including the degradation of critical habitat and boat strikes. Severe weather events such as the Brisbane floods further threaten the local dugong population by decimating seagrass beds.

Dugongs occur throughout the Indo-Pacific but many remote populations are lacking the data required to effectively protect them. Being long lived (70 years!) with a slow breeding rate makes dugongs particularly susceptible to environmental disturbances, habitat loss and climate change. In August 2022, the Chinese population of dugongs was declared functionally extinct, with only 3 reported sightings in the last 5 years. The disappearance of large marine mammals such as dugongs, the Baiji (Yangtze River dolphin), the European Monk Seal, the Māui dolphin and the critically endangered vaquita all have significantly disrupt the delicate balance of marine ecosystems.

We believe a t-shirt should be able to withstand anything. Coffee date spills, workouts, ran-out-of-pyjamas, camping, and of course, the sand and surf. This is why we only use the highest quality 100% cotton from the Better Cotton Initiative

Our shirts are trialled and tested, at home and in the field. We can say with confidence that they hold up to the elements (but have not withstood an angry turtle, sorry.). They are printed locally, in Brisbane, and made to order to reduce waste. This means they may take a little longer to arrive than your favourite fast-fashion brands. But trust us, the wait is worth it.

Our Dugong Tee features a dugong across the chest, and the Little Wild Lines handwritten logo. 10% of profits from these shirts are donated to marine conservation.

Available in Forest Green.
